Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Cooling Toner Review

Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Cooling Toner Review

Finding good toners for combination skin is no less than a nightmare. That’s one of the reasons why I skipped toners for a long time and stuck with applying fresh lemon juice on my face which works great as well. I picked up this Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Cooling toner way back in February this year and completely forgot about it and started using it only in September. Let’s find out if this toner worked for my combination skin or not!

Price and Packaging –

This toner comes in a super sturdy bottle;  perfect for travelling with no spills. It is priced at INR 399 which is quite economical for a good branded skin product.

My Experience With This Blackhead Eliminating Toner –

One of the main reasons why I bought this toner was because it contains BHA which removes dead skin cells and controls the oils and works much better than AHA. Witch Hazel and Salicylic Acid are other great ingredients in this toner which help in reducing oiliness.

On first impressions, this toner has a very strong chemical smell which instantly put me off. The scent is too overpowering but luckily fades away within a few minutes after application.

The Neutrogena Cooling Toner stays true to its name with a cooling effect when applied on my skin. It deeply cleans my skin just like any other other toner would. While it works great on my oily T-zone, it completely dries out the skin on my temples and cheeks. Combination skin problems! ☹ I’m guessing it would work great on oily skin considering it consists alcohol. It also didn’t tighten my pores and just left them super dry and stretched out. Ugh!

My biggest concern is blackheads and this Neutrogena toner does not eliminate blackheads at all. I’ve been trying to use it every day to see some results, but it hasn’t reduced my whiteheads or my black heads. Apart from that, it contains parabens and I’ve been trying to watch my skin products very closely to avoid using products that contain parabens. Honestly, I wouldn’t have had a very big problem with the parabens if the toner was great.

I won’t be purchasing this product again mainly because it didn’t work for my skin the way I wished it would, it contains a lot of chemicals and that scent is something I just can’t stand.

Here’s Why I Don’t Recommend This Blackhead Eliminating Toner –

  • Super drying for combination skin, will work great on oily skin
  • Contains parabens and a whole lot of other chemicals which is frankly, scary! 🙁
  • Does not eliminate whiteheads or blackheads.
  • Does not tighten pores
  • Extremely overpowering chemical smell

As you can see, I literally have nothing positive to talk about this product. If you have dry or combination skin, stay away from this product! If you’re looking for a good skin care routine for combination skin, you can check out my detailed article here.
